THE 1992 to 1999 TOUR FILES

In this section you'll find the reviews of my bootleg CD's from the period 1992 to 1999. All the albums got separate ratings. First there is the audio rating. Based on the sound quality of the source. Are their much distractions, glitches, hiss etc. Clear sound is also an important point in this grading. Then there is the 'entertainment value' of a concert. Here I combine Meat's voice with the songs in the set list and the performance of the songs and interaction with the crowd. The average of both is the 'total' score out of a 5 star grading.

1993        Meat Loaf Live Rehearsals                                      (Soundboard)

The 'rehearsal songs' were released on several singles as B-sides. The audio quality is outstanding. Perfect soundboard quality. That can't be said about the performances unfortunately. Some of the songs are just performed badly and Meat screws up more than just once. But then again that's why they are rehearsals I suppose.

This isn't a concert and can't be graded as one. So I based this on the sound quality and performance quality of the songs. 3 out of 5 stars.

09-18-1993  I Do Anything For Love Tour 1993                    (Soundboard)

The first of several bootlegs from the Hudson Theater show from September 18, 1993. Great concert as a lot of these songs were later used for official releases on the 'Live around the World' double CD and the bonus CD for the Collector's Edition of Bat out of Hell 2. Sound is good. Still I have a better sounding bootleg from this source.

Great bootleg with good sound and a great performance from Meat Loaf. It gets a solid 4 out of 5.

09-18-1993  Meat Loaf Hell is Everywhere                             (Soundboard)

Exact the same show as the above. Only this has better sound. Both are soundboard CD's but the sound of this one is much more balanced. Again from the Hudson Theater in New York. The cover says October but it's September. Meat played for consecutive nights at the Hudson that weekend. Great bootleg!

A very balanced audio concert. The audio is just superb. This deserves a big rating. so 5 out of 5 stars from me!

09-18-1993  Meat Loaf Look Back Into Hell                            (Soundboard)

Meat Loaf look Back Into Hell and Meat Loaf the Ballad of Easy Rider are also bootlegs from the same Hudson Theater concert. There are many bootleg versions of this concert and this isn't one of the better ones. Sound is not as good as the other ones (although the audio is still way above average) and the set list is in a different order

Good audio but not as good as the other versions. SO not the maximum score. 4 out of 5 stars from me!

09-18-1993  Westwood One Radio Superstar Concert Series   (Soundboard)

Yes this is another version of the Hudson concert from September 18th, 1993. But the sound on this one is just perfect! From the rare US Westwood One radio show 2-CD hosted by J J Jackson. First broadcast August 19th 1996. After each track there are radio ads. And each track gets introduced by J J Jackson. Paradise, sadly, is incomplete to fit the radio broadcast.

The audio quality on this one couldn't be better. Too bad for the incomplete Paradise. Still this quality deserves 5 out of 5 stars!

09-18-1993  Meat Loaf Louder at the Hudson Theater           (Soundboard)

I really like this bootleg. It's the Hudson show again but with much more tracks. Cover date says September 15 but that's my mistake. It should say Sept 18. Again soundboard material but the best versions available from that concert. Great set list, great performance and fantastic audio. This is one of the best bootlegs from this tour.

Great set with superb audio. Nothing wrong with this CD. A much deserved grading of 5 out of 5 stars.

The History of Meat Loaf Live was a TV special concert from MTV/VH1. Recorded in Orlando on November 14th, 1993. This is a very good audio rip from the TV broadcast. Meat sounds fantastic and the set list contains the best of the first two Bat albums. Roll over Beethoven was never aired on TV but part of the concert.

Meat is great and the audio is pretty good. Some songs are edited for TV purpose but all in all an entertaining CD. 4 out of 5 stars.

This is an audio rip from the audience video recording of this great concert. The show is really great to listen to. The audio is okay for an audience recording. Vocals are clear enough and there are hardly any glitches. I gave the audio a 6 but it's almost a 7 in my opinion. The concert is not complete. It's missing Paradise and Everything Louder.

Decent audio bootleg, ripped from the DVD. Show is great but better to watch. 4 out of 5 stars anyway.

12-04-1993  Meat Loaf To Hell and Back in Cardiff        (Radio Broadcast)

This concert from Cardiff, Wales from December 4th, 1993 is fantastic. The set list, the performances of the songs and Meat Loaf's voice are just fantastic. So is the audio for most parts. There are a few glitches but Objects in the Rearview Mirror suffers from a major glitch. The only let down of this fantastic show.

Despite the audio glitches this is a real treasure. One of the best bootlegs of this tour and like the Hudson one this deserves 5 out of 5 stars.

12-10-1993  Meat Loaf Live in Manchester                                   (Audience)

The Manchester bootleg from December 10th, 1993 is unfortunately incomplete. I'm missing the entire second disc. It's an audience recording and the sound quality is pretty good. Very clear, no interferences or other noise. It's really good. The concert is also good. Except Life is a lemon. That track  goes 'blank' on several occasions.

I wish I had this complete. Sound is very good for an audience taping and the concert is very entertaining. 4 out of 5 stars.

12-15-1993  Meat Loaf Live in Brighton                                         (Audience)

There are plenty of decent audience bootlegs from this tour. The Brighton bootleg from December 15th, 1993 is a great example for that. The show is energetic, Meat Loaf is entertaining and energetic and the audio is very decent for it's time. But for a Bat 2 concert it's just above average. That says a lot about the tour.

Great set list from this tour and the audio sounds clear for an audience taping.  Decent is the overall impression. 4 out of 5 stars.

12-16-1993  Meat Loaf Live in Bournemouth                                 (Audience)

This concert was taped a day after Brighton on December 16th. It's very similar to the Brighton concert too. Exact same set list and Meat sounds almost the same. Even the audio quality is close to that of Brighton. A few minor distortions during some of the songs but nothing to spoil the fun. If Brighton was a decent then so is this one

This deserves the same rating as the above show. Decent audio, entertaining concert and Meat sounds good. Also 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a great concert. I also have the DVD version. You can read a review about that one in the DVD bootleg section. This audio is not sourced from my DVD concert. That one is missing Paradise while it's on this audio bootleg. Sound is not that great unfortunately. Unbalanced and not very clear. The concert makes up for it though.

Too bad about the low audio quality. Otherwise this one had a much better grade. 3 out of 5 stars.

03-04-1994  Meat Loaf Live in Dallas TX.                                     (Audience)

Unfortunately this is an incomplete concert. It's missing 'Objects' and 'Everything Louder'. Also missing the Wasted Youth Speech and some interaction with the crowd. 'Paradise' fades out at the very end, missing a few seconds. Concert itself is very nice. Audio is fair but at times it's hard to hear the vocals. Sounds like Meat had fun.

With two hours it's almost complete. If the vocals had been more clear this might have scored a little higher. But as it is now it gets 3 out of 5 stars.

This concert from April 5th, 1994 is best known for the official video release of Heaven Can Wait (to be found on 'Classic Albums'). The audience recording of this show sounds pretty good. Vocals are very clear. It's a bit low but very decent. So another decent concert CD from this tour. Being Dutch I might like this more than most of you.

The sound is pretty good for an audience recording. Show is decent, so is Meat Loaf. For me this is 4 out of 5 stars.

04-08-1994 Meat Loaf Live in Stockholm                                    (Audience)

Meat Loaf played in Sweden on April 8, 1994. This Stockholm show sounds pretty good. The sound is clear and the vocals are clear. Unfortunately Meat Loaf's voice is a little worn during the Scandinavian part of his tour which obviously has his effect on the quality of the concert. Set list is missing the first two songs and fades in during 'All Revved Up'.

Clear and bright sound on this bootleg. Meat's voice isn't too great though. Incomplete show which brings me to rate this 3 out of 5 stars.

04-10-1994 Meat Loaf Live in Oslo                                    (Audience)

This is a rip from the audience DVD bootleg. The sound is kind of okay but doesn't work well without the picture. Meat Loaf's voice isn't as strong as it used to be during the tour. And the show is also feeling a bit 'basic'. Nothing special going on. So definitely not the best CD of the Bat 2 World Tour. But also not the worst.

Meat Loaf sounds average, the audio is just below average and the show just about average. That makes it an average score. 3 out of 5 stars.

04-17-1994  Meat Loaf Live in Köln                                                (Audience)

Meat Loaf still suffers from a raw throat in this concert from April 17th, 1994. The sound is very unstable. Sometimes it's pretty clear. Other moments, especially during Anything For Love, we mainly hear the left channel audio track. The set list is the basic tour list so no All Revved Up was performed.

The show is entertaining and Meat sounds slightly better than Oslo. Sound is more unbalanced. This one also gets 3 out of 5 stars.

04-18-1994  Meat Loaf Live in Frankfurt                                         (Audiece)

Slightly better than the Köln Concert above (that was held a day earlier). This concert from April 18th, 1994 has very reasonable sound. Overall it's good but Life is a Lemon has some serious bass distortion. The concert itself is entertaining. Meat Loaf's voice hasn't completely recovered but it has been worse.

With slightly better sound as the Köln concert this almost got a higher grading. But the differences are minimal therefore also 3 out of 5 stars.

04-20-1994  Meat Loaf Live in Nurnberg                                         (Audiece)

This is a decent recording from the German show from The Frankenhalle in Nurnberg. It's complete and the audio is similar to the Frankfurt show. And although Meat Loaf sounds slightly better than the show in Frankfurt, the difference is minimal. There are definitely better bootlegs from this tour around but it makes a very good addition  to the collection

It's a typical German audio bootleg. Very decent, nothing really special but still very entertaining. Another 3 out of 5 stars.

Another audio bootleg that is a rip from an audience DVD bootleg. The sound is pretty poor. Perhaps the worst sounding bootleg of this tour. The show is pretty decent and Meat Loaf gives it all. The rock medley at the end has Johnny B. Goode, Roll Over Beethoven and Johnny B. Goode again. Nothing special. There are much better bootlegs available.

Not the best bootleg. Sound is weak and low. The show is average but complete. 3 out of 5 stars

05-25-1994  Meat Loaf Live at the Spectrum, Philadelphia         (Audience)

This concert from May 25th, 1994 sounds very decent. Although there is quite a lot of noise and chatter from the audience. Meat Loaf voice sounds good compared to the later German shows but is not as good as the beginning of the tour. The show is entertaining. Meat Loaf used another order for the set list in Europe. This one starts with Anything for Love again.

Meat Loaf's voice is just above average but the sound is only okay. Show is fun to listen to. 3 out of 5 stars.

07-13-1994 Meat Loaf Live in Indianapolis                                    (Audience)

You can tell that it has been a long tour for Meat. He misses the energy and doesn't have the powerful voice from the start of this tour. The concert is almost complete. Missing the beginning of Out of the Frying Pan and Objects is incomplete as well.  The sound quality is ok but nothing special. It's loud but not always that clear.

This isn't the best bootleg for this tour. Audio is ok but the concert is rather flat. Everything is average and so is the rating. 3 out of 5 stars.

07-29-1994 Meat Loaf Live in Miami, Florida                               (Audience)

The complete Miami, Florida concert from July 29th, 1994. This is also a rip from the audience DVD. Sound is slightly better than the Essen CD but not the best audio. Show is very entertaining but I prefer to watch the video with this one. Meat sounds great and there's much energy in the air. Everything Louder is just the reprise.

Not the worst audio quality. A bit low on the vocals though. Show is above average and entertaining. 3 out of 5 stars.

This bootleg is missing the entire second part of the concert. It could well be on disc 2. But my version only has one disc. The sound is decent. There is some bass distortion at times but besides that the audio is clear enough. Meat Loaf's voice is suffering at times here. Not his best vocal performance of this tour at all.

Some very minor clicks and bass distortions prevent this from being a great audience recording. The show is entertaining.  3 out of 5 stars.

This was broadcasted on German radio and is the September 10th show from Mannheim, Germany. This could have been such a great bootleg. The sound is superb, the set list is full. This has everything except a great performance from Meat Loaf.  Meat sounds very weak and this might be one of the worst vocal performances.

At the end of the two year tour Meat's voice suffered a lot. Audio is grea performance not so. Still 3 out of 5 stars.

For an audience recording this one has very decent sound. A bit thin and a bit unstable but clear enough. Meat Loaf really dragged himself to the end of this long tour. Nothing wrong with his effort which is always fantastic but the voice of Meat needed some rest. The concert doesn't hold any memorable moments but isn't bad at all

Decent audience recording and a great effort by Meat Loaf. But compared to the early tour it's mediocre. 3 out of 5 stars.

09-21-1994  Meat Loaf Loud in Paris                                              (Audience)

Anything for Love is just performed terribly on this bootleg from Paris, France. Recorded on September 21st, 1994. The overall performance of Meat Loaf in France is way under par. The sound quality of this show isn't great either. Some glitches and a overall low unbalanced audio. A show you can easily forget.

Poor sound quality and poor vocal quality by Meat Loaf make this a bootleg to forget. 2 out of 5 stars

12-30-1995  95.5 PLJ - NY Radio Live at Christmas         (Radio Broadcast)

Live radiobroadcast from 95.5 PLJ New York Radio. So very good sound. Meat Loaf is visiting the radio station to support them with a children's benefit. Meat Loaf and the rest are having lots of season fun in this radio special. Not a real concert but a great bootleg to listen to during Christmas times.

Great sound, major fun and nice performances of the songs. Not graded as a concert but as a fun bootleg for the collection. 4 out of 5 stars.

10-23-1995  Meat Loaf Live at the Beacon Theater                      (TV Audio)

From the very well known televised concert 'Live in the Neighbourhood'. This is the audio rip of that TV concert. So the sound is really great. So is Meat Loaf. His voice is strong and the set list is very entertaining. Anything for Love is a bonus track from the Berlin 1996 performance. Great bootleg to start this tour with.

Fantastic sound and a great performance make this a great bootleg. But there is a better bootleg from this show. Therefore 4 out of 5 stars.

What a fantastic bootleg this is. Same concert as above but with more songs and superb audio quality. Midnight at the Lost and Found, Dead Ringer and All Revved Up were recorded but never used in the TV broadcast. What You See is What You Get is not from the same concert and added as a bonus. A-Must-Have CD.

An amazing soundboard bootleg of this tour. Hard to top. Only the maximum score is enough. 5 out of 5 stars.

This bootleg contains the Beacon Theater show from October 23rd, 1995 in perfect audio quality. The sound is fantastic and the set list is complete. I do have more bootlegs from this show but none are this superb! Meat sounds great and this promo concert for the 'Welcome to the Neighbourhood' album is a real joy to listen to.

Although I said it would be hard to top the above bootleg of this show, this really tops it. Amazing! 5 out of 5 stars.

11-09-1995  It's Live For You (And That's the Truth)            (Soundboard)

Another great sounding CD. Meat visited the MuchMusic studios in Canada on September 9th, 1995 to promote his latest CD and played seven songs for the small audience. The songs were unofficially released for radio Broadcast. It is missing the energy of a real concert but also lacks the feeling of an intimate performance. Also Meat's voice isn't fantastic here.

This one has great audio. Not a concert but the performance was about average nonetheless. Giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

04-24-1996  Born To Rock Glasgow, Scotland                             (Audience)

What an amazing concert. From Glasgow, Scotland. On April 24th, 1996 Meat Loaf performed in a fantastic show. The sound for this bootleg is also very good. A great audience recording that is clear and loud. The set list is a treat and the energy and interaction with the crowd are a sheer joy. Hard to top audience bootleg.

The sound is very good and the show almost perfect. This has to get the maximum score of 5 out of 5 stars.

Yet again a complete CD from the Born to Rock Tour. This time from Brussel, Belgium. The concert is from May 2nd, 1996. The audio is comparable with Glasgow. I did enjoy that concert a bit more but this one also is great by any means. Meat Loaf sounds good and the set list rocks again.

Very good audio for an audience taping. Clear sound and no crowd issues. This gets a big 4 out of 5 stars.

The complete concert from Frankfurt, Germany. This was taped from the audience on May 14th, 1996. The sound is not the best. It's hard to hear Meat Loaf's vocals although it's very listenable. The concert is really enjoyable with lots of good moments. Although I prefer Brussels and Glasgow this is a great addition to my collection.

Bad sound makes it harder to really enjoy this concert. That why it gets an average grading of 3 out of 5 stars.

Not the complete concert. Missing the last few tracks. So no Bat out of Hell or Paradise on this one. Sound is even worse than the Frankfurt CD. Really hard to hear Meat sing and the sound is also low and heavy. The concert is okay and so is Meat Loaf. Not his best voice but the German tour was having its impact on Meat's vocals.

Don't like the sound on this at all. It's heavy, low and hard to make out the vocals. Incomplete concert. Barely 3 out of 5 stars.

This is a very entertaining concert. It's the complete show from Dortmund from May 20th, 1996. I think the audio source is from the audience DVD bootleg and it sounds fair. Better as the two other German bootlegs from Frankfurt and Stuttgart, above. Still not as good as Glasgow or Brussels. Still very entertaining with a special birthday moment for Patti Russo!

Very entertaining concert. Lots of great moments in this one. Sound is okay for an audience taping. So 4 out of 5 stars.

This concert is Far from complete. Where the Stuttgart bootleg is missing the end, this one is missing the beginning of the show. Mediocre sound quality which is slightly below average, doesn't help the entertaining value of the CD at all. And then there is Meat Loaf. His voice sounds decent here. But also could have been better.

Nothing on this bootleg that really needs any attention. Sound is a bit low again. Just 3 out of 5 stars.

07-??-1997  Live in Erfurt                                                               (Audience)

In 1997 Meat Loaf added a few festival shows to his tour. But it's not really part of the Born to Rock tour. Anyway the audio on this CD is poor. Much distortions and some glitches. Expect nothing pretty here. As for the show itself. It's a shorten set list because of the festival thing. Not that interesting content.

Bad audio and a short set list. That sums this one up. Giving the content perhaps I'm giving this too much credit with 3 out of 5 stars.

Barely better than the Erfurt bootleg. Recorded at the Rostock festival in Germany on July 11th, 1997. Same short set list as above but without Johnny B. Goode. Sound is almost equally bad. It's the best bootleg I have from this year though. Some crowd noise and distortions. Anything for Love has a few glitches.

07-20-1997  Meat Loaf Live in Loreley                                            (Audience)

With a lot of noise, distortions, fading away sounds and more this is the worst sounding bootleg from this tour. As if that's not enough Anything for Love has been butchered. Also Meat Loaf doesn't sound that good during this concert. Recorded at the Loreley festival on July 20th, 1997. This is the kind of CD you just want to forget about.

Terrible audio and a mediocre concert. This is just unpleasant to listen to. Don't bother getting this unless you're a die hard fan. 2 out of 5 stars.

Playing in an empty studio. That makes this content very interesting. it's like being at a Meat Loaf rehearsal session. The set list is great and Meat is clearly having fun. Which obviously has influence on Meat's performance. The sound is also very good. It's sourced from a Dutch TV show and the audio sounds clear.

Which is not a surprise coming from a radio show.  Meat Loaf is having loads of fun and you can hear it. All in all this is a great bootleg with great tracks.

Fantastic complete concert of the Very Best Of... Tour. Meat Loaf sounds great and the show is a real treat to listen to. Even the sound is pretty good. And then there is the set list. Meat Loaf even performs a part of For Crying Out Loud during this concert. Recorded on March 28, 1999 in London. The kind of bootleg that you want to have in your collection.

It took me time to get used to the audio quality. At first it feels and sounds a bit far away. But everything is very clear. 4 out of 5 stars.

Incomplete concert from Leuven Belgium. Meat Loaf was recovering from being ill but gave his very best. The quality of the sound is very bad. some fades, unbalanced and sounding very low. Despite this all it still listenable. Paradise is just the half song but with great battering between Meat and Patti.

Not great at all. Audio is poor and has plenty of fades. Meat sounds okay but it's the last part of the concert only. 2 out of 5 stars.

The sound quality of this bootleg is nice enough. Although there is some hiss distortion throughout the entire concert the sound is loud and clear enough. The second part sounds slightly better compared to the first set of tracks. This bootleg is missing Paradise. I know it's on some other bootlegs. Some songs are incomplete. Anyway nice enough but not too special.

The audio isn't great but the second part is good enough. Meat Loaf is okay. Very average stuff. 3 out of 5 stars.

It's the complete concert and the set list is fantastic. So that's the good news. This bootleg from April 18th, taped in Berlin has disappointing audio. It's hard to pick out Meat Loaf's vocals and there are some glitches through different songs. As far as I can tell Meat Loaf sounds reasonable but not great.

Very nice sound quality on this bootleg from April 24th, 1999. Meat Loaf continued his German Tour in Düsseldorf. This is the complete show that was recorded by someone in the crowd. Hardly any side-noises on here and the sound is pretty clear. Meat Loaf himself is also performing a very good show here. This is certainly one of the best bootlegs from the 1999 Very Best of... The audio quality of this bootleg CD has a wide range from very good to poor. It's literally all over the place. An audience recording from April 25th, 1999. A day after the great concert of Düsseldorf. The show itself is again an entertaining one. Meat Loaf is energetic and sounds good. But it's not quite as good as the performance from a day earlier.

And with the complete Rotterdam show from April 25th, 1999. The audio is very clear and bright. Meat Loaf's show is fantastic and the set list a treat. a 'must have' bootleg!

Audio wise this is pretty decent. It does suffer from quite some 'noise artifacts' which prevents this from being good. Meat Loaf seems to enjoy himself at this concert in Hamburg on April 28th, 1999. Unfortunately it's incomplete. We're missing the beginning and we're missing the end of the concert.

There is quite some audio noise on this bootleg. There is also a continuing hiss noticeable on the tracks. I'd Lie for you has a small glitch. All in all the sound is just below average. This audience recording is from May 14th, 1999. The first London Concert is much better. Still an enjoyable concert from the Very Best Of... Tour.

Personally I don't like the audio on this. The sound range goes up and down which makes it hard to really relax and enjoy listening to this. But it is the only Storytellers bootleg I have and the contend is very entertaining. Meat Loaf has some fun with the crowd. The interaction is also funny. But I'm happy there is an official released album from this tour.

The sound really annoys me. There is just no balance in it and that makes it not pleasant to listen to. So this only gets 3 out of 5 stars.
